St George’s School

Norman Hoare OBE MA,

Retired Headmaster

From concept through design to project build and final completion it was a pleasure working with Brian. Nothing was too much trouble and he coordinated everyone with skill and patience, was a real team player, sorting niggle issues promptly and decisively, as well as dealing with possible serious planning threats with authority and success. My Governors and I were very grateful that he took the lead on everything, consulting when necessary and keeping us informed at every step. As the Headmaster of large school with countless tasks filling every week and term, I knew that Brian's support and guiding hand would carry each project through, delivering on time and with the minimum of disruption and tension. We have been delighted with the finished product on every occasion.

Chris Paice,

Estates Manager

I have used Elbourn Architects for many years and have always found them to be professional, friendly and intuitive. They listen to the brief and then enhance it, providing other ideas and suggestions that are more efficient, visually inspiring and elegant.

After a rigorous selection process, we appointed Elbourn Architects as architects and project managers for our prestigious new building. We are absolutely delighted with the design which has been extremely well received by the whole school community. We are also particularly impressed by the teamwork of the consultants and contractor led by Brian Elbourn which has enabled us to complete our building on a very tight programme.

Throughout the process Elbourn Architects have been extremely attentive to the school’s needs, very willing to respond to any concern that we may have and proactive in keeping costs as low as possible whilst still maintaining a very high-quality build. I cannot recommend Elbourn Architects highly enough, as they provide a quality service that is second to none.

Edge Grove

Michael Wilson,

Former Headmaster

I first contacted Brian and Jennifer Elbourn in 2002, when the enormity of taking over a listed Prep School situated in the middle of the Green Belt, had begun to settle in. The school had expanded rapidly, and the facilities needed to follow suit and the planners were in no mood for a piecemeal approach. Over the next nine months the Bursar, Elbourns and I put together a ten year ‘Master Plan’, which was endorsed by the Governing Body and accepted by the local planning council. There were good days and push backs but the Elbourns used all their experience, architectural skill and charm to produce a plan that was both imaginative and right for the site. We had a lot of fun and the quality of their work is there for all to see.

Prof. and Dr. Ferenczi,

Homeowners

This is just a note to let you know how happy we are with the wonderful work you did in transforming our house. We are very much enjoying living in it. It feels so much more spacious, and all the fittings are just right. The standard of care and attention to detail, as well as the overall layout and sense of space are wonderful.

Dove CottagE

Mr and Mrs Toft,

Homeowners

We have no hesitation in recommending Elbourn Architects. They worked very closely with us at the concept design stage to ensure that our new home would be everything we wanted it to be. They consulted us at every step through the detail design and guided the project through a very difficult Planning Permission process. Their incredible attention to detail and deep understanding of the construction process has resulted in a building which is very beautiful as well as functioning exactly as we want it. We could not have wished for a better service or a more wonderful finished product. We really love our new home.

COB'S COTTAGE

Mr and Mrs Barrett,

Homeowners

Elbourn Architects came up with an inspired and sensitive design for the extension to our Grade II listed cottage. Their imaginative ideas gave us a wonderful new living space which perfectly complements the older parts of the cottage. The whole project ran very smoothly thanks to their knowledge of historic buildings and their understanding of the processes involved - from planning applications to selecting a suitable builder. And their recommendations for working with the builder ensured that the work was done on time and within budget. We would highly recommend them.
