Studham Village Hall

Replacement Village Halls, Bedfordshire

Studham is situated in an attractive undulating and wooded landscape. Our tight site is in the Conservation Area, washed over by Green Belt and overlooks Studham Common and the Chiltern Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Our community scheme replaces an existing Village Hall with a modern sustainable efficient new building. The simple plan allows for flexible well-resourced spaces that a wide range of local people and organisations could enjoy.

The buildings at the heart of Studham have grown haphazardly around the common and up the winding hill to the north and are of a wide variety of widths, heights and roof pitches and materials set at various angles following contours and views.

To fit comfortably into this picturesque scene, we have conceived the new Village Hall as two buildings of different scales each with its own pitched roof and orientated to align with its neighbouring property or boundary linked by a central entrance.

Following a successful presentation and consultation event with the village community we look forward to developing the design in greater detail for discussion with the Central Bedfordshire Council and all other interested parties.
